About Us

Kota Mahsuri, the resting place of the legendary Mahsuri Binti Pandak Mayah, is a must-visit on Langkawi Island. Established in the early 1980s, Kota Mahsuri features a diorama museum, where Mahsuri’s jewellery and the weapon that killed her are displayed. The complex also includes a traditional theatre and a replica of a Kedah house, built almost exactly like those found in Langkawi during Mahsuri’s time. It’s said to be built on the exact location where her house once stood. Here, you’ll also find her burial site. Her gravstone stands forlonly in a lush green garden. Folklore tells that this is where Mahsuri drew her last breath after being sentenced to death in Padang Matsirat. Nearby, you’ll find the Mahsuri well, located within the complex. Traditional music performed by locals adds to the cultural experience.
